25 years with Tres Trilogías

María Ángeles Rodríguez Arango

Trilogy of time

It includes the following works: Romances de Grisú (1961 and 1962), Pirueta blanca (1967 and 1969) and Marea de retorno (1961 and 1968).

Romances de grisú reproduces the second edition, from 1962, which had a new section with 25 poems entitled “Nuevos romances”. In 56 poems in all, it shows the identification with the mine and the miners of the author’s childhood.

Pirueta blanca appeared the first time in the number 60 of the Colección Rocamador, in 1967, and the second edition in 1969 with musical illustrations in the charge of Andrés Moro which had been given their premiere in the Jorge Manrique High School, the 23rd of April, 1969. The drawing which appears in the frontispiece was carried out by Demetrio Cascón, teacher of drawing from the Marqués de Santillana High School, from Torrelavega. They are 33 poems which sing her movements, her plays, the strings or cradlesongs which lull her to sleep.

Marea de retorno, published partially in the Comarca de Mieres weekly in the years 1961-1962 and 1968-1969, includes the memories of the childhood and adolescence: the native land with its landscapes, the relatives and friends, the pupils and the children. It is a review of what has been lived through with love and hope, though the constant presence of death stands out, as Fernando Lázaro Carreter shows in the introduction to this whole.

Trilogy of time I Trilogy of space I Trilogy of death
